Keda Ceramics Launches Its Milestone Sanitary Project in Kisumu, Kenya

KEDA Ceramics Factory held a grand ceremony for the sanitary ware project in Kisumu on August 2rd. Pan Wenfeng, deputy of the African headquarters of the joint venture company, together with Kisumu management team and infrastructure units, attended the commencement ceremony. 


The factory is situated in Kisumu County, the third largest city of Kenya, only 160 kilometers away from the border with Uganda, covering an area of more than 900 acres piece of land. Upon completion the planet is expected to have one ceramic tiles line, one sanitary ware production line, also more production lines are on the agenda. After the completion, it will become the largest sanitary ware production line within the East Africa, which can be able to cater for the surrounding African countries needs, such as Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The expansion means that KEDA Ceramics is strengthening its position as a global frontrunner for development and industrialization of ceramics production technology, with a great opportunity to take on the role as the leader of ceramics market . 


In accordance with the plan, the daily production capacity of the factory is estimated to achieve 4000 pieces per day. With the help of the international advanced automatic high-pressure molding equipment, which takes the advantage of great productivity and geographical advantage, it will greatly accelerate the production of sanitary products, like toilets and basins. So far the site construction has been officially started and the related equipment is also well prepared with all efforts. The project is expected to be officially put into production in the second half year of 2023.



The KEDA Ceramics Factory sanitary project is highly valued by the local government. Ms. Betty Maina, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Enterprise Development of Kenya, and Mr. Peter Anyang Nyongo, the Kisumu county Sheriff  inspected  factory on August 1st and August 2rd respectively and witnessed the development of the company.


Ms. Betty Mayena had a profound discussion with Mr Li Ruiqin about the strategic plan of the factory and strengthened that she was committed to addressing road travel difficulties and power supply problems during construction for enterprises. After the visit, she endorsed the development of the factory, and indicated that the investment of the project plays an important role in improving local residents’ income and stimulating the development of regional economy in Kisumu, thus the government will give utmost support to boost the sustainable development of the venture.



Mr. Peter and Mr. Li Ruiqin, General Manager of KEDA (Kenya) Ceramics, jointly inaugurated the KEDA Kisumu Sanitary Ware Ceramics Factory. Later on, Mr. Peter made the speech that he welcomed the establishment of KEDA Ceramics Factory in Kisumu and expected a promising future and better development of the factory. Meanwhile, he expressed that this factory will create more job opportunities for the local people. He even planted an umbrella tree (Schefflera actinophylla) himself in the factory, which symbolizes good wishes and the evergreen friendship between China and Kenya.
