Twyford Cameroon Honored with "Industrial Leadership Award" at the 4th Cameroon Finance Week 2026

2026-05-08

At the recently concluded 4th Cameroon Finance Week, Twyford Cameroon was honored with the Prix du Leadership Industriel (Industrial Leadership Award). The event attracted over 500 distinguished guests, including key officials from the Presidency of the Republic of Cameroon, the Ministry of Finance, and the Directorate General of Customs, alongside representatives from major financial institutions and investors. The gathering focused on leveraging the power of the private sector to drive the economic transformation of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC), featuring a series of keynote speeches and high-level interviews.

During the event, Yvon Sana Bangui, Governor of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC), analyzed the macroeconomic landscape of the CEMAC region. He noted that while the region exhibits resilience and controlled inflation, growth remains constrained by a continued reliance on oil and gas resources, coupled with an increased exposure of banks to sovereign risks. Bangui's perspective was echoed by Célestin Guela Simo, CEO of Afriland First Bank, who emphasized that "without a strong private sector, CEMAC cannot achieve sustainable development," calling for a definitive shift toward productive investments.

Against this macroeconomic backdrop, Twyford Cameroon stood out among numerous enterprises thanks to its robust local industrial investments, the successful establishment of a domestic architectural ceramics industry, and its tangible contributions to import substitution, job creation, and regional economic empowerment. By winning the Prix du Leadership Industriel, the company emerged as a highly recognized corporate benchmark at this year's event.

Since commencing production in 2024, Twyford Cameroon has continuously introduced advanced manufacturing equipment and management systems, achieving localized, large-scale, and standardized production of ceramic tiles. The company's products have not only effectively met the demands of Cameroon's domestic market but have also successfully expanded into neighboring countries—including Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Chad, the Central African Republic, and the Republic of the Congo—thereby elevating the influence and competitiveness of "Made in Cameroon" across Central Africa.

Meanwhile, Twyford Cameroon has consistently fulfilled its commitment to localized development through several key initiatives:

Integrating into the local supply chain: Deeply participating in the construction of the building materials ecosystem to drive synergistic upstream and downstream development.

Creating substantial employment: Generating a large number of stable jobs to tangibly support and uplift local communities.

Substituting imports with local manufacturing: Significantly reducing the region's reliance on imported ceramic tiles. This strategic shift saves precious foreign exchange reserves for Cameroon and the broader CEMAC region, truly propelling the autonomous and sustainable development of local industries.

This prestigious award represents a high level of recognition from the Cameroonian government, industry peers, and the public regarding Twyford Cameroon's investment strength, industrial contributions, and overarching corporate value. Looking ahead, Twyford Cameroon will continue to increase its local investments, optimize its production and logistics systems, and deepen its regional market footprint. Through these efforts, the company aims to inject solid, long-lasting momentum into Cameroon's industrialization process and help cultivate a new pole of economic growth within the CEMAC region.
