Kenya Cabinet Secretary of Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry Visits Twyford (Kenya) Ceramic Factory

Hon. Salim Mvurya, E.G.H., Cabinet Secretary of Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, Deputy Minister PS Dr Juma Mukhwana, Chairman of the National Budget Committee Hon. (CPA) Francis Kuria Kimani, M.P. and officials from Kagado County Government visited and inspected the Twyford (Kenya) Ceramic Factory on September 10, 2024.
At the meeting, Miao Qiyu, the business manager of Twyford (Kenya) Ceramic Factory, introduced the development of Twyford International in Kenya to the ministry team. Currently, Twyford International has three factories in production in Kenya. With the increasingly mature development in the future, it can drive about 3000 direct employees and about 60000 indirect employees. At the same time, Twyford International actively participates in social welfare projects such as road construction, church building, and scholarships. As of now, the cumulative public welfare investment has exceeded 200000 US dollars. In addition, during this event, Miaoqiyu also provided feedback to the ministry team on the current problems and challenges facing the sanitary ware market.
Hon. Salim Mvurya, Cabinet Secretary of Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, greatly appreciated the achievements of Twyford International in Kenya and the employment and tax contributions it has brought to Kenya. He also provided positive feedback on the issues raised, stating that the Kenyan government is committed to improving the investment and business environment, vigorously supporting local manufacturing, reducing imports, actively protecting local manufacturing, and attracting more foreign investment. At the same time, he also mentioned the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation held in Beijing last week, where the Kenyan and Chinese governments signed a series of cooperation agreements, expressing strong support for the development of foreign-funded enterprises, especially Chinese enterprises, in the future.
Chairman of the National Budget Committee Hon. (CPA) Francis Kuria Kimani also expressed full support for local manufacturing, and the supplementary version of the 2024 fiscal bill is currently being revised and improved. In the future, Kenya will increase import taxes to better support and protect local manufacturing enterprises.
After the visit, Hon. Salim Mvurya, Cabinet Secretary of Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, posted a series of updates on social media, sharing his itinerary and expressing appreciation and recognition for Twyford International’s employment and tax contributions to Kenya.
Mr. Hon. Salim Mvurya also invited Mr. Miao as a representative to attend a media conference at the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry on September 12, 2024, and deliver a speech, focusing on Twyford International’s development in Kenya and its significant contributions to employment and taxation. Subsequently, Mr. Miao accepted a separate meeting with the general secretary and took a photo with him as a souvenir.
Invited by Cabinet Secretary Hon. Salim Mvurya Li Ruiqin, General Manager of Twyford (Kenya) Ceramics Factory, went to the office of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry for talks on September 13, 2024. Mr. Hon Salim Mvuria hopes that Twyford International can continue to increase investment and create more job opportunities locally. At the same time, he stated that Kenya will continue to increase protection and support for local manufacturing enterprises.
